Creative Health Practitioner

The links between being creative and this having benefits for your well being has long been known, going into the loft to work on a train set, settling down to some knitting or card making are all ways in which we use our own creativity.  Whether we set out intentionally with our wellbeing in mind or do it because we love it there is always a benefit to using your own time in a way that brings you joy.

Being a Creative Practitioner in Health can often be hard to explain, I bring craft into a space and it becomes a flux for communication and care, the space is very much held by the medical professionals or those running the project.  Understanding the boundaries of my involvement with participants and facilitators is very important.  I am artist not and arts therapist.

During my MA i developed what I feel a creative practitioner needs to be using TATE definitions.

I use The Cultural Health and Wellbeing Framework in my creative practice, it provides pillars that resonate with my own manifesto or way of working.  It is a very useful tool and it provides a check in so that I can ensure I am on track, that I build care into both my delivery and of myself.

I have my own reflection sheet and project agreement that uses the pillars as a way to ensure a great delivery.

All of these pillars and ways of working ensure that I can create with care.
